Art That Speaks!

Subsocial Collective ‘Subsocial’ is a not for profit community interest company and small collective of socially engaged artists based in Greater Manchester. Working collaboratively with local communities and partners through inclusive, creative workshops and participatory projects. The Collective creates welcoming spaces where people of all backgrounds, abilities, and experiences can take part in creative activities in ways that feel meaningful, accessible, and supportive to them.

Their practice is shaped by listening first — developing workshops around the interests, strengths, and needs of the people they work alongside rather than imposing a fixed structure or outcome, prioritising connection, care, and collaboration. Central to their ethos is the idea of “meeting people where they’re at” — recognising individual circumstances, lived experiences, confidence levels, and modes of expression without judgement.

Through creative engagement, conversation, and shared making, the collective creates meaningful opportunities for people and communities to feel heard, valued, and empowered. As a social enterprise, they reinvest all profits directly into the communities they work with, while also nurturing the next generation of socially engaged artists and strengthening the wider socially engaged arts community across Greater Manchester.
